Arriving in Bogota, our staff will be at the airport waiting to take you to the hotel. We suggest to book a flight arriving Botogá before 3pm. Meeting with the Host in the hotel lobby at 5 pm to board the van and departure for a welcome drink at Cerro Monserrate, the highest point in the city. Dinner and return to the hotel.
July 8 Wednesday
Departure from the hotel for a walk in the Paloquemao market. Tasting of typical Colombian soups and pan de yuca, a traditional Colombian cheese bread that goes with milk or red porridge (coffee). In the market we will buy the extra ingredients needed for the expedition’s first practical cooking class. Meeting with chef specializing in Colombian Amazonian cuisine who conducts a practical cooking class and, at the end, the students taste the dishes produced in a very cozy atmosphere. Let’s continue Food Safari with a class on Colombian coffees – one of the highlights of this script. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon and free night.
July 9 Thursday
Departure after breakfast to visit downtown Bogota, learn about Colombian history and know its main monuments. Visit the Museo do Oro – has a collection of more than 54 thousand objects including paintings and sculptures, being considered a Colombian Historical and Archaeological Heritage. After a coffee in the museum cafeteria, we head to the Museo Botero to see more than 120 sculptures by the artist. Free lunch and in the afternoon, departure to an exceptional restaurant in Bogota where we will have a class of Meat, Arepas and Empanadas. Dinner and evening enjoying the attractions of the dancing restaurant. Return to the hotel.
July 10 Friday
Check out after breakfast and departure to the charming Villa de Leyva, a small colonial village reminiscent of Brazil’s historic cities. Its surroundings have family-owned farms, organic produce and artisan cheeses. We will stop at an organic farm to get a taste of the countryside around Bogota and have lunch. Arrive at Villa de Leyva, check in at the hotel and free afternoon to walk around the center and enjoy the historic city on foot. Our dinner will be a menu with regional ingredients “from the vegetable garden”.
July 11 Saturday
Breakfast and departure to visit the street fair around the square. Departure by minibus for a technical visit to a Coffee Farm located in the municipality of Moniquira, in the state of Boyaca. The farm also produces guava and milk sweets. Delicious lunch at the farm and return to the hotel mid-afternoon. Free night. As a tourist town, Villa de Lleyva has numerous options of bars and restaurants.
July 12 Sunday
Breakfast and checkout. Return trip to Bogota direct to the airport. We suggest scheduling the return flight from 6pm. End of Food Safari Colombia.
