Foie Gras, Premium Olive Oil, Jamons, Cavas - these and other delicacies gathered in five days of activities in the interior of Spain

Food Safari Catalunya takes place in September so that we can participate in the olive harvest, the Harvest Party, and monitor the entire olive oil production process. Another highlight of the itinerary is the visit to an award winning winery where we will learn the artisanal production process of Cavas and we will be able to taste some special labels. We also draw your attention to the visit to the duck producing farm where we will learn everything about foie gras, magrets and, of course, taste these delicacies in harmony with cavas and olive oils.

September 22 Thursday

Upon arrival in Barcelona (BCN), our team will be at the airport waiting to take you to the hotel.

At 5 pm, the group meets at the hotel in the early afternoon with the hosts of this trip: Paulo Machado, ambassador of Brazilian gastronomy and Carolina Lima, curator of the #HolaOlive project. Welcome drink and departure to visit La Pedrera to learn a little about Gaudí’s art and architecture.

After the visit we will participate in an exclusive Paellas class with Chef Alex Palomo, dinner and socializing. Spanish gastronomy is an exclusive journey.

In the summer the dusk in Barcelona is around 10 pm, the afternoons are long and the Catalan usually dines late at night. The program was developed following the routine of the residents of the region, with breakfast around 9:30 am and activities until the end of the day – around 22:00.

September 23 Friday

Breakfast is served from 8am. Check-out from the hotel and departure by minibus to the city of Girona, in a journey of approximately 1h30min towards the Costa Brava. The destination this morning is the Collverd duck farm to get to know the whole structure of how foie gras is produced. Then we go to the field to learn about animal breeding and answer questions about the process of a company that takes great care in handling its animals. The activity ends with an exclusive tasting of premium products that are sold in the best meat boutiques in Europe.
After lunch, we will visit Casa Cacau – a new project by the Roca brothers, precursors of contemporary gastronomy in Spain. Let’s get to know the project and, of course, taste these chocolate delights. In the late afternoon, check-in at your hotel in Girona and free time to walk around the city. Overnight stay

September 24 Saturday

Breakfast is served from 8am. Check out of the hotel and travel by minibus to the rural area of ​​the city of Arbeca, inland in Catalunya. It is a 2 hour trip to the olive farm where we will participate in the Harvest Party – Harvest. We will be received exclusively by the family that owns the farm and produces olive oils of the Arbequinados variety. The objective of the activity is to learn about the process of planting olive trees, harvesting the olives, production and details about bottling olive oil. Practical oil tasting class and delicious lunch in the countryside served among the olive trees.

Check-in at the hotel and free night to walk around the historic center and have dinner. Overnight stay.

September 25 Sunday

Breakfast is served from 8:30 am. Check out of the hotel and board the minibus to the renowned winery of cavas. This winery won the Best Winery of Catalonia award in 2017 and 2019, referenced by the Catalan and Spanish Association of Someliers.

After the tasting, we will have a special lunch at the winery’s restaurant. In the middle of the afternoon, we will head back to Barcelona. Check-in at the hotel and free night. The Hotel chosen in Barcelona is in a privileged location, next to the Passeo de Gracia, close to internationally renowned shops and restaurants.

September 26 Monday

Breakfast and walk to the Gothic quarter of Barcelona to the Santa Caterina Market – a beautiful building offering numerous products – seafood, meats, breads, vegetables, hams and much more.

After the visit, we’ll head to the Hotel Merce, which is located in some Roman ruins in the heart of the Gothic quarter, where Chef Xavi Lahuerta awaits us with a delicious Mediterranean lunch. After lunch we go to a distributor of exclusive local and artisanal products where we will have the option to buy delicious cheeses, jamón and other products! There we will make a closing toast of the Food Safaris. Free night to say goodbye to Barcelona.

September 27 Tuesday
