Valley of the Vineyards

Food and wine expedition through Rio Grande do Sul culture with practical cooking class and exclusive experiences

Unique and exclusive Food and Wine experience including visits to wineries and a program of unforgettable experiences in restaurants and tours in the region of Rio Grande do Sul: Vale dos Vinhedos.


Day 1

Arrival in Porto Alegre. Our team will be at the airport awaiting your arrival to take you to your hotel. At night we invite you to join the group for dinner at a meat restaurant and live a contemporary experience. Overnight.

Day 2

We start this Food and Wine experience in a van to Bento Gonçalves departing at 12pm.

Stop for lunch at a steakhouse, located in a traditional German house with carvery and buffet with side dishes and desserts. Opportunity to taste the real gaucho barbecue.

The trip continues after lunch for approximately 2 hours. Check-in at the Hotel in Bento Gonçalves and rest. Departure at 7 pm for happy hour at the a destilary where there will be a tour to learn about the production process and taste the different types of craft cachaças produced there.

Return to hotel and free night to enjoy the Food Safari.

Day 3

Departure after breakfast to the Faria Lemos district where there will be a full day of activities aimed at learning viticulture on the winery property.

The group will be received by the oenologist, who belongs to the fourth generation of the family that has been producing grapes and wines on this same property since 1896. The first activity is a walk through the vineyards and participate in the vintage – grape harvest. Participants are invited to follow this special moment that only happens at this time of the year. With enough grapes harvested, everyone is invited to take off their shoes, lift their trousers and step on the grapes, just as they used to do. The game is accompanied by traditional Italian music and a meringue – a snack with tasting of a sparkling wine from the house.

At the end of the morning, participants are invited to visit the winery area and participate in a guided tasting of 5 labels. Lunch will be served in the garden, next to the vineyard. The menu features starters, 3 main dish options and 2 dessert options.

Return to the hotel in the middle of the afternoon to rest from the Food and Wine experience. Free night.

Day 4

Departure after breakfast to the municipality of Pinto Bandeira, also known as the grape city, where most of the rural properties are wine growers. A visit to the cellars of the award-winning producer of some of the best sparkling wines in Brazil.

Inside the winery, all the details of the sparkling wine production process will be known, as well as the famous champagnes, where the second fermentation of the liquid takes place inside the bottle itself.

Then there will be a guided tasting of 4 labels inside the winery – an opportunity to get to know one of the best sparkling wines in South America, which are praised by critics from all over the world.

From 11 am, in the gardens of the property, the property transforms this space into an Open Lounge with bar and snacks service. Free afternoon to enjoy the atmosphere of the property and return to the hotel to rest.

Day 5

Departure after breakfast to the municipality of Garibaldi where chef Rodrigo Bellora commands the restaurant Valle Rústico. We will take a guided tour of the property’s vegetable garden to learn about the restaurant’s production and get to know it´s work within the Slow Food chain. The restaurant’s menu is seasonal, prepared according to the products available in the garden and among family farmers in the region. There are 6 stages of an elaborate menu enjoying the aroma and flavor of the dishes, a connection with nature that aims to surprise by simplicity, excellence and quality.

After lunch, we will continue to Carlos Barbosa to board the Wine Train. During the trip there is tasting of grape juice and wine, theater, traditional gaucho music, Italian choir and tarantella, a traditional Italian dance. Arrival in Bento Gonçalves and transfer to the Hotel to rest. Overnight stay.

Day 6

Closing of this Food and Wine experience. Breakfast and check-out to start the return trip to Porto Alegre in order to catch the return flight. We suggest scheduling a flight from 1pm.
