Day 1

Upon arrival in Ljubljana, our team will be at the airport waiting for your arrival and will take you to the hotel. See our flight suggestions at the end of this document.

Check-in at the Hotel and meeting of the group with our host in the lobby around 6:30 pm. This is the first Food Safaris activity that main goal is to look for white and black Truffles.

Departure for our welcome dinner at a restaurant witch menu consisting of traditional dishes includes pairing with regional wines. The restaurant does not offer sophisticated dishes, its cuisine is based on traditional family cuisine. We can compare it to what a Minas Gerais restaurant in Brazil represents. It will be our first immersion in Slovenian flavors.

Day 2

Breakfast at the hotel and departure to visit Ljubljana Castle – a complex of medieval buildings built on a hill that served as a fortress for many centuries. We will take the cable car up to the castle and learn about its history through a guided tour. At the end of the tour, we will have lunch at one of the castle’s restaurants, to enjoy a contemporary 3couse menu prepared by the Chef.

Free afternoon and evening to get to know the city, walk through the channels of the Ljublijana River and be enchanted by the city’s architecture.

Day 3

hour by minibus to the southwest of Slovenia. We chose this region due to the possibility of finding white and black truffles at this time of year. Our guide on this hunt is one of Slovenia’s leading truffle experts. According to the climate perspective and expert analysis, we go to the best place to look for these edible fungi.
The hunt is carried out in the rural area and we will count on the help of trained dogs to locate the truffles on the ground. Everyone is invited to dig the land for truffles.
After the hunt, we will stop for lunch and return to Ljubljana. Free night.

Day 4

Departure after breakfast to the village Livade, Croatia, known as the truffle capital of Istria. We are going to participate in the largest truffle fair in this portion of Europe, which in addition to the fair, hosts an international exhibition of wine and other Istrian indigenous products such as Istrian ham, sausage, cheese, honey, olive oil, brandy… cooking, demonstrations of truffle hunting in the forest and various tastings during which participants can try culinary specialties made with truffles presented by regional chefs.
Throughout the day, we will have the company of a Fungi Biologist Researcher, who will be able to clarify our doubts about truffles, from the control processes of the productive environment, harvesting to the best gastronomic uses of each species.
Drive to Komen and check-in Rural Lodge, overnight.

Day 5

We will get to know the work of a chef – cook but also an artisanal producer of hams, olive oils, acetos,
cheeses, butters and wines that he uses in the kitchen of his restaurant. An art he learned from his parents and perfected with studies and practices in the area of gastronomy. The restaurant is part of a small family business since his father takes care of the pig farm and crops, his mother takes care of the guesthouse with four rooms. In this environment we will be welcomed and we will know the care that Chef dedicates to the inputs that make up his dishes.
After a very special lunch menu, free time to enjoy the rural atmosphere and overnight.
